Illikkal Kallu
Illikkal Kallu is a monolith located on top of the Illickal Malaa in the Kottayam district of Kerala, India.The distance from kottayam railway station to illikal kallu is 57km. Situated at around 3400 feet above sea level, Illickal Kallu is a major tourist attraction in Moonnilavu and Thalanadu village of Meenachil taluk. Only one half of the original rock remains, as the other half of the rock has fallen off. Numerous mountain streams originate from this peak and flow down to form the Meenachil River. Tourists must trek almost 1 km to reach the summit of the peak. From the hilltops, the Arabian Sea can be seen on the far horizon as a thin blue stroke. The view of the sunset from above the peak in the evening of a full moon day can be sensational: the moon can be seen rising up like another sun, as the orange sun goes down.
Elaveezhapoonchira
The beautiful valley of Ilaveezhapoonchira, in the district of Kottayam is one amongst the many prime picnicking spots in the area. The beautiful hillocks near Kanjar are known to have great trails for trekking. The view in itself is breath-taking. During the Monsoons, the entire place transforms into a surreal spectacle. The terrain changes and one observes Nature at her best. Vaikom Mahadeva Temple
The Vaikom Mahadeva Temple is a temple for the Hindu god Shiva in Vaikom, Kerala, India. The temple, along with Ettumanoor Siva Temple, Kaduthuruthy Thaliyil Mahadeva Temple is considered a powerful trisome. The belief is that if a devotee worships at these three temples before 'Ucha pooja', all the wishes are fulfilled. The Vaikom Mahadeva temple is one of the few temples which is held in reverence by both Shaivaites and the Vaishnavaites. Vaikom's Shiva is fondly called Vaikkathappan. The Shiva Linga here is believed to be from the Treta Yuga and considered one of the oldest temples in Kerala where pooja has not been broken since inception.
Marmala Waterfalls
Marmala Waterfall is a waterfall which is located a few kilometres away from Erattupetta, in Kottayam district, Kerala. It is exactly 8 km from Teekoy. One has to trek through the middle of an estate, over the slippery rocky path, in order to reach the waterfalls. Marmala waterfall is about 40 meter in height, plunging into a 12-meter deep pool and feeds the River Teekoy.
